Dinghy Sailing
We specialise in small group beginners training for both children and adults
We are a small independent Sailing School; situated within Bisham Abbey National Sports Centre, near Marlow in Buckinghamshire. Established in 1991 we are a Royal Yachting Association recognised teaching establishment.
Dinghy sailing courses take place mainly during main school holiday periods, on the River Thames and follow the RYA Dinghy Sailing Scheme for both adults and juniors. We specialise in small group beginners training using a range of dinghies supported by fast safety boats. The highest standards of supervision, safety equipment, buoyancy jackets and first aid facilities are provided. Our instructor to student ratio is one to six enabling maximum attention to each student's progress.

Students do not need to purchase specialist clothing, all that is needed is a windproof jacket, soft soled shoes, a change of clothes and a towel. All students are allotted their own boat, buoyancy jackets are provided and all courses are supported by a fast safety boat. Although we specialise in beginner's training many of our clients return each season to improve their sailing techniques.
Should our range of courses not cater for your needs or the thought of learning in small groups not appeal, training can be provided on a more personal basis using both single handed and double handed boats by arrangement.
COURSES AVAILABLE:
JUNIOR COURSES
Junior courses follow the RYA Youth Sailors scheme and are available for children from 8 years old.
Tuition is given with close supervision in small groups using lightweight dinghies.
Four day 'Optimist'* courses (suitable for children from 8 to 12 years of age) are run from Tuesday to Friday, during main School holiday periods.
Four day 'Topper'* courses (suitable for children over the age of 12) are available from
Tuesday to Friday, during main school holiday periods.
*'Topper' and 'Optimist' are the names of the type of dinghy mainly used on our courses.

ADULT COURSES
'START SAILING / BASIC SKILLS'
This four day course, which may be taken Tuesday to Friday or over a series of two
weekends, is an introduction to basic boat handling techniques and essential background knowledge.
These skills are developed during the course and upon completion you should be a safety conscious sailor capable of sailing a dinghy without an instructor in light winds.
Everyone learns single-handed techniques to begin with in the 'Topper' dinghy. There is then the opportunity to try the other boats at the School, i. e.
Wanderer.
