Junior Courses

Junior courses follow the RYA Youth Sailors scheme and are available for children from 8 years old.

Tuition is given with close supervision in small groups using lightweight dinghies. We ensure that each child has their own boat for the four days. This means that there is no sharing of boats thus maximising their time at the helm. Not only does this mean that they will learn faster but it also allows us to treat each student as an individual and coach them at a pace that suits them.

We use two types of dinghy for our youth courses:

Four day 'Optimist'* courses (suitable for children from 8 to 12 years of age) are run from Tuesday to Friday, during main School holiday periods.  (9.30a.m. - 4.30p.m.)

Four day 'Topper'* courses (suitable for children over the age of 12) are available from Tuesday to Friday, during main school holiday periods.  (9.30a.m. - 4.30p.m.)

*'Topper' and 'Optimist' are the names of the type of dinghy mainly used on our courses.
